'Venky' is a complete mass movie. The film is totally aimed at masses and it has lots of twists. It is the story of four vagabond youths, who have a strong belief in 'jatakam' and 'graha sancharam'. They believe in what an astrologer says and surprisingly all his predictions proved correct. Director Sreenu Vytla gave a different treatment to the subject and succeeded in highlighting Raviteja as a mass hero.

Story Venkateswara Rao fondly called Venky (Raviteja) and three of his friends get through the degree examinations after six years of study. They could not find any job and they meet Jagadamba Choudary alias JC (Mallikarjuna Rao), who tells them that the planets are not in their favour for some time. One fine morning, JC calls these fellows and tell them that they would get a job, in which they carry caps on their head. They meet a person (Gouthamraju) who promises each of them a job and swindles Rs 1 lakh from them. Later, he ditches them. While trying to catch him, they accidentally prove fit for the sub-inspector jobs. They face a written test in which they answer the question at random and get selected in it too. They leave Visakhapatnam for Hyderabad. JC tells Venky that he would meet a beautiful girl in the journey and she will become his life partner. As he said, Venky meets Sravani (Sneha) and her father and tries to befriend with her. He makes all sorts of attempts to win her heart. Venky dares to confess that he wanted to marry her, which irks her father who scolds Venky. Later, in an inebriated condition, Venky threatens Sravani's father that he would kill him. The next day, Sravani finds her father and another girl dead and suspects the Venky gang. The police launch a manhunt for Venky group.

Somehow, Venky and his group escape and go straight to Police Academy and join the training. In order to escape from the clutches of police, they wanted to change their date of joining. Yogendra Sharma (Asuthosh Rana) is the head of the Police Academy, who is known as a strict officer. Venky and his group enter his room where the files are kept and find that Yogi is the real mastermind behind the killing of Sravani's father. They also find that Sravani is in danger and Venky saves her and keeps her in a dilapidated building near the Police Academy. They also find that Yogi is in search of a digital cassette in which there is some secret related to him. They also realise that one of the co-passengers called Gajala (Brahmanandam) had stolen the digital video camera. Meanwhile, Yogi realizes that the police are searching for Venky's group and passes on the information that the accused were staying in police academy. Yogi also finds Sravani in the dilapidated building and kidnaps her. In order to save her, Venky calls up Yogi and ask him for a compromise, saying that the digital cassette was with him. However, he did not give the cassette to him. As they had no belief in the police officials and also fearing their arrest, they seek Governor's appointment to handover the cassette. In the climax, Yogi gets caught and the film ends on a happy note, with the DGP (Suman) praising them for solving a mystery even before joining the duty and presents them with merit certificates and medals.
Music Music by Devisri Prasad is impressive
Performance Raviteja did a neat job as hero and reached the expectations of the director as well as the audiences. Sneha is also quite good-looking and also performed well. Music is another highlight of the film and the choreography of a couple of songs is also good. Raasi played an item song, while Suman made a guest appearance. Tanikella Bharani is in his usual best. Comedy by Krishna Bhagawan and Venumadhav is okay.
Verdict Above Average
