Director Puri Jagannath who has given two hits 'Santosham and Manmadhudu' with Nagarjuna is now back with a mass movie with a class touch titled 'Sivamani 9848022338'. There are several mass elements in the first half and Nag's characterisation is perfect in the flashback episode. But the director could not handle the second half properly.

Story Sivamani (Nagarjuna) is an honest Circle Inspector who always wanted to keep the law and order in tact. He loves music very much. Sivamani comes to know about Dattu (Prakashraj) through Rajani (Ali), a pickpocket and warns him to change his ways. Meanwhile, Sivamani comes across Vasantha (Ashin) in a music store and instantly falls in love with her melodious voice. Vasantha has a life ambition to release a songs album. At this juncture, one of the followers of Dattu turns approver and so Dattu eliminates him. Dattu warns Sivamani's mother to tell her son to be calm and not to involve in his affairs. Due to shock she suffers partial paralytic stroke. At the instance of Sivamani and his positive attitude, many people come forward to give witness in court, but Dattu escapes from the case by producing a false aliby. However, the court debars him from the city for five years in several other cases. While driving him out, Sivamani finds that Vasantha is the niece of Dattu and her native place is Kerala. Vasantha advises Sivamani to take his mother to Kerala as there are specialists to treat paralysis. So Sivamani and Vasantha take her to Cochin. There again Dattu comes across Sivamani and tries to attack him and gets a bashing . In order to take revenge, Dattu takes the help of his brother in law Gowrishankar (Mohanraj) and severely thrashes Sivamani and takes Vasantha away.

Sivamani reaches Cochin with the help of some tourists and finds that his mother was killed by Dattu and can't find either Dattu or his brother-in-law or his Vasantha. Sivamani stays back in Cochin in search of Vasantha for two years. While being taken away by Dattu, Vasantha scribbles something on a paper and puts it in a bottle and throws at Sivamani in the water. That bottle sails past Kerala beach and reaches Visakhapatnam. Pallavi (Rakshita), editor of Andhra Jyothi, a Telugu daily, happens to see the bottle and investigates the entire episode. Pallavi meets Sivamani in Cochin and later reaches Vizag and meets Vasantha at the specified spot as was mentioned in the letter that was found in the bottle. But to her surprise, Vasantha loses her voice, due to an injury inflicted by Dattu, while trying to kill her after killing her father. Pallavi calls up Rajani and informs him that she found Vasantha. Sivamani reaches Vizag and meets Vasantha. The story ends on a happy note, with the union of Sivamani and Vasantha, while Dattu, who tries to kill Vasantha dies in the hands of the fans of Sivamani in Vizag.
Music
Chakri's tunes are average. There is no melody in the songs. He used the desi music in the film with lots of drum beats.
Performance
Nagarjuna is a perfect fit as a charming cop in the flashback episode in the first half. His teasingly dominating nature on the heroines is impressive. Asin looked impressive in the love scenes, but the director had deglamourised her in the second half as well as in the climax. Rakshita looked good in modern dresses. Though Prakashraj played well, the director also diluted his character, by making him run away from the hero. Comedy by Ali and MS Narayana is good.
