'Racha' is directed by Sampath Nandi. And he has come up with a predictable storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was not that great, and in narration has twists.
Story:
The film opens with a bomb blast where two village elders are killed. After a lapse of time, we see Raju (Ram Charan Tej) known as Betting Raj as he is in the habit of taking undue risks like car racing to win money. He accepts a bet of Rs 20 lakhs offered by James (Ajmal Ameer) as he needs the money to take care of the medical expenses of his father (MS Narayana). The bet is that Raj has to make Chaitra (Tamannah), a rich girl studying medicine, fall in love with him within thirty days. She happens to be the daughter of mining magnate Bellari (Mukhesh Rishi). As the romance between Raju and Chaitra progresses, we find that each of them has a past and it has its origins in the initial bomb blast incident. The past makes Chaitra to be in danger for the present while Raju's past has an unfinished business to be completed at present. Whether this bet is successful or not forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Ram Charan has given a good performance. Tamannah looks sizzling hot and gave the required visual feast. Mukesh Rishi was impressive. Ajmal and Parthiepan were brief. Dev Gill was okay. Kota was regular. Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Srinivas Reddy, Tagubothu Ramesh, Ali were there for the comedy track. The others didn't have much scope.
Music:
'Racha' music is composed by Mani Sharma. And the background score was mediocre, but only two songs were upto the mark, remaining were average. The placement of songs was wrong.
