'Raagam' is the Telugu version of highly appreciated English film 'Morning Raga'. The film is produced K.Raghavendra Rao. His son Prakash Rao is playing the main lead. It is directed dy Mahesh Dattani and this is his second venture. The director has choosen good story and cast for the film.
Swarnalatha (Shabana Azmi) is a talented singer who lives in a village near Rajahmundry. She refuses to step out from her village because she has tragic flashback. Swarnalatha's son and her friend Vaishnavi were killed in an accident while they were crossing the bridge in a bus. Shattered by guilt, she takes strong decision never to sing again and cross the bridge to the city. After a few years, Abhinay (Prakash Rao), son of Vaishnavi, also a musician comes to their village. He wants to form a band to make memorable music. His friend Pinky (Perizaad) and he try hard Swarnalatha sing again. And how did she agreed to cross the bridge and shown her talent to the world, forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Shabana Azmi lived in her character. She did her best in the film. Praksash Rao, who made his debut in 'Neetho', has also performed well. Perizaad Zorabian looks beautiful. She did her role well as Prakash's friend. Lilette evokes laughter. The others did upto the content. The music forms the highlight to the film. All songs are pleasant. Mani Sharma and Amit Heri have given their best to the music. The film's climax is interesting. Story and narration are fine. The other technical aspects are adequate.
