'Puttintiki Raa Chelli' is the remake of a successful Kannada film 'Baviride Bathangi'. Arjun and Kodi Ramakrishna proved a successful combination and gave good hits like 'Maa Pallelo Gopaludu, Mannemlo Monagadu and Maa Voori Maaraju'. 'Puttintiki Raa Chelli' is a family oriented subject with full of family sentiments. But the movie has a tragic end which might not attract the viewers.

StoryLakshmi (Swathi) loses mother in her childhood and her brother Sivanna (Arjun), brings her up charmingly. He gives her everything. Lakshmi falls in love with her classmate Ajay (Srinath). On learning this, Sivanna gets her married to Ajay, against the wishes of Ajay's mother, sister (Apoorva) and brother-in-law (Surya). In a cool ploy, Ajay's mother invites the new bride to their house. Ajay gets a foreign trip to Singapore for training and thought of taking his wife along with him. On the other side, Gowri (Meena) is in love with Sivanna and her father (Costumes Krishna) too agrees to the alliance and Sivanna gets the muhurat fixed for his marriage. On learning this, Lakshmi drops her plan to go abroad along with her husband. But after the marriage and by the time Ajay returns, Ajay's kin hatch a plan and fix Lakshmi in an extra-marital affair with the driver. Police arrest Lakshmi and Sivanna gets her released and brings her to Ajay's house. However, the latter rejects Lakshmi. Lakshmi refuses to go with her brother and stays in her in-laws house.

The in-laws start harassing her in several ways, but Lakshmi quietly bears everything. Once, she comes to know that she was pregnant. Ajay insists on the doctor to abort the child. At the instance of Sivanna, she lies to Ajay that she performed abortion. However, the truth comes out that she was still carrying. None in her in-laws' house bother about her. Finally, Ajay's mother, sister and brother-in-law fix his marriage with his niece, the next day and Lakshmi gets pains. However, they shed humanity and dump her in storeroom without heeding her request to admit her to hospital. At this juncture, Sivanna catches the driver, who was behind the whole drama. Sivanna thrashes him black and blue and takes him to Ajay and unveils the truth. Ajay feels bad for the happenings. Sivanna goes in search of his sister only to find that she was battling for life. The moment Sivanna reaches her, she breaths her last in the hands of her loving brother, leaving her kid in his hands. This tragic end forms the climax of the movie.

Performance
Arjun performed an excellent role. Meena was okay in the role of sister-in-law as character actress. The entire film revolves round the role of Swathi and she was able to cry a lot and gave performance which is okay to certain extent. Sivajiraja got a good role as a supporting actor. However, the comedy track between Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Sudhakar and Shakeela is in bad taste.
