A.R.Gandhi Krishna’s 'Prema Chadarangam' is dubbed version of Tamil hit 'Chellamy'. The feel of the original Tamil version could not be translated in Telugu effectively. Screen play and direction by Gandhi Krishna is good. The movie completely belongs to Reema Sen. She has given a knock out performance prooving that she is not only a sex symbol but also an actor with substance.
Story: Vishwa (Bharath) and Mythili (Reema Sen) are neighbors since childhood. Mythili is affectionate and caring to Vishwa who lost his mother when he was six month old baby. She is very protective about him and treats Vishwa like her younger brother. Rajashekhar (Girish Karnad), a rich business magnet, is Vishwa's father. Raghunandhan (Vishal), a young income tax officer, raids Rajshekar's house and by sheer accident finds out that he has hidden all the unaccounted wealth in Mythili's house. In a subsequent raid at Mythili's house he meets Mythili there. They eventually fall in love after a series of incidents, get married and settle in Goa. Now Vishwa in the adolescent stage gets shattered with unknown feelings and tries things differently. Obsessed by Mythili, Vishwa comes to Goa under the pretext of studies and stays next-door to Mythili. Vishwa becomes jealous of Raghu and their happy married life as he becomes more and more fanatical with Mythili. He devises a crooked plan and kidnaps Mythili when Raghu goes out of station on work. Vishwa takes her to Chennai to their farm house and locks her inside. Raghu comes back to Goa to find Mythili missing. Their neighbour tells him that Mythili eloped with Vishwa. A chance watch of their wedding video, Raghu gets a hint on Vishwa's behaviour towards him and understands that Mythili is kidnapped. Raghu with the help of Harichandran (Vivek) his colleague tracks Vishwa's hideout.
A totally shocked Mythili pleads Vishwa to release her and makes it clear that she cannot be his wife. That she loves him as her son and a younger brother. In a thrilling climax on high seas the trio fights it out and Mythili hits Vishwa with the boat oar. He falls into the sea taking Mythili with him. Raghu comes for her rescue and Vishwa's dead body resurfaces on the shores.
Music:Harris Jayaraj's music is impressive.
Performance: Reema Sen steals the show by her mind-blowing performance. Be it her glamourous skin-show, her love scenes or her final break-down on the beach, she steals the scenes. Sen does a fine job of portraying both her strength and her underlying vulnerability. “Boys” fame Bharath as Viswa is enticing and has done his part convincingly by bringing out the innocence of a 17-year-old along with his hidden angst as a neglected child. Newcomer Vishal is tall and does the regular superhero stuff. Girish Karnad is wasted in an insipid role. Vivek takes on the income tax department which brings down the house especially with the comedy scene with actress Mumtaz. Bhanupriya comes in a folk song.
Verdict Average.
