'Okkadu' is a youthful love story interlaced with faction, action and sentiment. It has all the ingredients a movie requires. After the flop of 'Bobby', Okkadu might bring some life to Maheshbabu. Story is by Gunasekhar who also directed the movie. Maheshbabu and Bhoomika are the perfect pair to the movie. Maheshbabu's performance is good in both action and romantic scenes.

Ajay (Mahesh Babu) is a kabaddi player and is the son of an Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Varma (Mukesh Rishi). He wins a match at local level and he and his team goes to Kurnool to play in a State-level match. By the time they reach Kurnool, they find a serious faction feud in Seema style. Obul Reddy (Prakash Raj) is a factionist. He falls in love with Swapna (Bhoomika), daughter of Dasaratharam Reddy (Chandramohan). Obul Reddy kills Swapna's brother (Achyut) when he passed a remark about the age difference between Obul Reddy and Swapna. Obul Reddy also kills another brother of Swapna. Horrified by the impending danger, Dasaratharam Reddy gives Swapna her certificates and money and tells her to go to her uncle's place in US. However, Obul Reddy catches her.
Ajay, who came out to greet his sister on her birthday, finds Obul Reddy who was forcibly trying to take away Swapna. He rescues Swapna from his hands and takes her to Hyderabad. He makes her to hide in his room and arranges passport, visa, flight ticket and other such documents for Swapna, with the help of his friends. Meanwhile, Home Minister Sivareddy (Rajan P Dev), brother of Obul Reddy, asks the police to search for Swapna and the guy who has taken away. Vijay Varma realizes that it's his own son who brought Swapna from Kurnool. Then, Ajay takes her away from his house and keeps her in Charminar.
From there, he chalks out a plan and with the help of his friends, safely takes her to the airport. However, Swapna refuses to board the flight but returns to Ajay saying that she would be safe in his hands. At this time, Vijay Varma arrests Ajay and hands over Swapna to Obul Reddy. At Obul Reddy's house, Swapna challenges that he just can't win over her heart as she could see only Ajay in him. She dares him to win Ajay in a straight fight. So Obul Reddy withdraws the complaint and takes Ajay with him. When he plans to kill him at a particular place, Ajay's friends reach there and save him. They arrest the entire group including Obul Reddy and take them to the national-level kabaddi tournament. Ajay's team wins the kabaddi match. But Obul Reddy escapes from Ajay's friends and challenges Ajay for a one to one fight. Ajay defeats Obul Reddy in the fight. When Ajay was about to join hands with Swapna, Obul Reddy attempts to kill him, but gets killed by Dasarathram Reddy. Finally the film ends on a happy note.
