Director Neelakanta, who had won National Award for Best Screenplay for a unique film 'Show' had brought out his second venture 'Missamma' with the same vigour and zeal. Instead of getting in to the mundane formula film scenario, producer B Satyanarayana, well known among film circles as Satyam, came out with an excellent film under the able direction of Neelakanta. His capabilities in penning the screenplay for a fantastic story are really laudable.

Story Meghana (Bhoomika) is the chairman of JP group of industries. She is a very stubborn person. Nandagopal (Sivaji) is an accountant in the Hyd-bad branch of JP group of industries. He has a wife Ratnamala (Laya) whom he loves very much. Gopal is very kind at heart and adopts a girl child from an orphanage. He donates 25 per cent of his earnings for charity and is a very practical man. He is an ardent follower of the principles of Meghana's father Jaya Prakash (Nazar) and prepares a thesis based on JP's book. Once Meghana visits her Hyderabad branch and Gopal tries to impress upon her with his talent. However, as Gopal acts very smart with Meghana, he loses his job. In order to regain his job, Gopal meets Meghana, who tells him that she ousted him from the present post to give him a promotion. She troubles him in so many ways in the name of tests for the promotion. later, Meghana proposes to Gopal that she wanted to marry him. When Gopal tells her that he was already married, she puts lot of pressure on him and forces him to marry her. They finally get married in a temple. On learning all this, Ratnamala develops hatred towards Gopal. Crushed between his beloved wife and the stubborn boss he turns very depressed. Later, Meghana tells Gopal that she will reveal truth to his wife and unlock the entire drama, on a condition that he should sign some documents, through which her entire property returns to her from the hands of trustees of JP group of industries.

In order to get back his wife, Gopal accepts the offer and signs all the documents. Meghana goes to Ratnamala and instead of unlocking the drama, makes it further rigid by forcing her to sign on the divorce papers. Coming to know what Meghana did, Gopal goes back to his wife to tell her that he was innocent, but Ratnamala does not believe him. Here comes Dr Vinod (Sarathbabu), a family friend of Jaya Prakash, to reveal the secret that Meghana is suffering from a peculiar disease and she would not live long. To continue the ideals of Jaya Prakash, who donates a major portion of his earnings for charity homes, Meghana searched for a person, who was kind at heart. She knows that the trustees of JP group were quite selfish and will not look after so liberally like JP. Once she comes across the thesis given by Gopal to JP and decides that he is the best fit. She again puts Gopal to test in several ways, whether he would fall prey to her property, which he did not and proves that he loves his wife than anything else in the world. But to hand him over the property, she needs to marry him and plays the entire drama and makes Gopal as the chairman of JP Group of Industries. The film ends with the death of Meghana, who tells Dr Vinod that the person who dies will take birth in the family of their loved ones. So, Gopal blesses with a daughter, whom both he and his wife treat as 'Missamma'.
Music
All the tunes in the film by Vandemataram Srinivas are quite impressive and their choreography is also good.
Performance
Bhoomika did a fantastic performance, while Sivaji and Laya did justice to their respective roles. Comedy by Tanikella Bharani, Jai Singh, Raghubabu and MS Narayana is timely, while LB Sriram and Anshu made a guest appearance in the film.
