'Indiramma' has Vijayashanti as heroine. She plays the title role as a Security Chief (a police Officer). She looks great but her action scenes are slow. Compared to her role in 'Kartavyam' , 'Indiramma' looks very normal without much action. The movie did not do any justice to her. Director Madhava Sai failed to get the best from Vijayashanti.

As for the story, it is about the enimity between two step-brothers. Jagga Rao has two wives. Ananda Naidu (Vijay Kumar), the son of first wife and Kesava Naidu (Sharad Saxena), eldest son of second wife. Kesava Naidu hates his stepbrother Ananda Naidu and plans to kill him. Suddenly Jagga Rao dies. Expecting threat to Ananda Naidu's life, the DGP [Raghunatha Reddy] provide him security and Indira [Vijayashanti] is in-charge of the commando force. Ananda Naidu wins the people's representative seat held by his father in the by-election and during the victory celebrations Kesava Naidu kills Ananda Naidu. Immediately, Indira kills both the sons of Kesava Naidu and also his brother Gazar Khan. Before his death Ananda Naidu takes a word from Indira that she would bring them up and look after their welfare.

Indira brings up both the sons (Raja Sridhar and Vijayabhaskar) and daughter (Poojabarathi) of Ananda Naidu. Indira stops Madhava Rao's (Jayaprakash Reddy) atrocities on the poor. So he helps Kesava Naidu in taking revenge against Indira. Meanwhile, Raja Sridhar falls in love with Madhava Rao's daughter (Anita Patel). Indira against the will of Madhava Rao performs their marriage. At this juncture, Kesava Naidu tells the boys and girl that Indira had killed their father. Latter, Indira comes to know that Poojabarathi fell in love with Jayaram. Indira tells Poojabarathi to share her life with her lover by going out of the house. Believing the words of Kesava Naidu, Raja Sridhar mixes poison and gives it to Indira. While trying to save her life, Indira's 10-year-old son dies in the bomb attack by Kesava Naidu's men. Both Raja Sridhar and Vijayabhaskar turn hostile witnesses in the case of attempt to murder on Indira against Kesava Naidu. So Kesava Naidu wins the case and kidnaps both the boys. When he was about to kill them, Indira reaches the spot and saves them.

Telangana Shakuntala plays the role of maid who looks after the children. Achyut (who passed away) played as heroine Indira’s husband. Vijayashanti gave good performance and looks glamourous too. Comedy by Brahmanandam is okay. Music by Vandemataram Srinivas is not impressive.
