'Idi.. Maa Ashoggadi Love Story' is directed by a Senior director Suresh Krishna, who directed top stars like Chiranjeevi for 'Daddy' and Rajanikanth for 'Baba' tried his hand with newcomers but failed. The director lost the grip in dealing the love subject because of its poor screenplay. The songs are worth watching with different tunes. Posani Krishnamurali's dialogues are not impressive and lacks the punch.
Ashok (Sai Balaji) is a college student, very passionate about music. He loves music than anything in his life. He is also a gifted singer. He had three good friends (who include Siva Reddy and Uttej). Ashok is the son of a big industrialist (Vizag Prasad) and his mother (Sana) pampers him very much. Once he happens to see Gowri (Kanchi Kaul) and learns that she is the daughter of his music guru, returned from Vizag after a long time. Gowri is basically a fashion designer, who designs dresses for filmwallahs and ad agencies. He wins her love with his melodious song. When Gowri's father (Chandramohan) goes to Ashok's father and broaches the marriage as the boy and girl loved each other only to get a rebuke from the latter.
Later, Ashok goes to Gowri's house and chides her father. He tells Gowri that he hates her. But, Gowri thinks coolly and sends his resume to a music company, who send Ashok an offer to make an album in their company and invites him for an audition test. When Ashok meets the MD of the company, he realises that it is Gowri who had introduced his voice to that company. Ashok returns and accepts his folly and offer excuses to Gowri's father. But by the time he leaves for Mumbai, Gowri's father suffers a stroke, but Ashok leaves them to their fate and boards the train as he is badly in need of some earning, because his father was neck-deep in debts and declares insolvent. However, he could not succeed in getting the job and by the time he returns he comes to know that his parents committed suicide. Unable to do anything he goes in search of Gowri and his father but to no avail.
Later Ashok joins as a car driver to a musician. His friends find him and provide him all the facilities. Ashok tells his friends that he still loves Gowri. Meanwhile, Ashok befriends with Suchitra [Swetha Agarwal] who falls in love with him. However, he makes it clear that he could not forget Gowri. At this juncture, Ashok's friends come to know that her marriage was fixed with someone [Manoj Bidwai] who saved the life of her father. He is none other than a famous director, who accepts to direct Ashok's album and it is Gowri who was supposed to design his costumes. Ashok tells his friends that his love is great and he would not allow her to marry some other. Here Suchitra comes to his rescue and promises Ashok and tells him that she would unite them, if Gowri still loves him. Then Ashok and Gowri first decide to elope, but realise their mistake and return home.
Every one gave good performance. Comedy is okay. Music is impressive.
