'Dhoni' is directed by Prakash Raj. And he has come up with a message oriented storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative missed the mark at key places.
Story:
The story begins with Subrahmanyam (prakash raj) who is a middle class employee and works hard to make ends meet as he is a widower. Along with his job, he also does side business of selling pickles and borrows money whenever needed. He has a son Karthik (akash) and a daughter. Subrahmanyam puts them in costly school to give them the best of education and struggles a lot for that. However, Karthik is not interested in studies as he wants to become a cricketer. This leads to a conflict between father and son. At one point, Subrahmanyam takes a decision which changes the course of their lives. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Prakash Raj has come up with yet another riveting performance and he scores. Master Akash was competent and made his presence felt. Radhika Apte looks ravishingly beautiful, brahmi brought few smiles. Murali Sharma stands out with his act. The others like Tanikella, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Nasser were good.
Music:
'Dhoni' music is composed by Ilayaraaja. And the background score was good and only one song was good, remaing were not upto the mark, just average.
