'Anveshana' is about sorcery and black magic. Though it is different from the routine subjects. The movie failed to impress viewers. Action scenes by Ram-Lakshman are good, but there is no suspense in the subject.

The film begins with the death of five persons in different ways. One of them is the brother of our hero Vamsee (Raviteja). Bhavana (Radhikavarma) is his girl friend. While Vamsee strongly believe that his brother Prabhakar's death was not just an accident and suspects the handiwork of some evil forces. However, Bhavana says that there are no evil spirits and rebuts his claim as foolishness. However, Bhavana's mother comes to know through the astrologer that Bhavana would be hit by evil forces and to save her from the spirits, she had to be married to a boy whose horoscope matches to her. Fortunately, both Vamsee and Bhavana's horoscopes match and they get married. After marriage, Vamsee comes to know about the fact. After their marriage, Vamsee finds that his brother got a letter from the watchman of a travelers bungalow, who warned him of serious consequences before his death.
So Vamsee decides to go to the forest area where the travelers bungalow was situated to know the details. Bhavana also joins him in the journey. There, Vamsee comes to know that his brother ditched a tribal girl called Jabili (Samyukta) and four of his friends raped her. Jaabili's father (Vallabhaneni Janardhan) decides to take revenge and kills all the five after giving them stern warning through the watchman. He also sends one of his followers [Jeeva] to the town to get a girl who was born in the same star of his daughter. He wanted to bring life to his daughter again by invoking that girl's atma. Though that follower finds Bhavana, she already got married to Vamsee. In order to save her virginity, that sorcerer sends evil forces and halts the first night. As both Vamsee and Bhavana reach the same village, the sorcerer's job turns easy and he kidnaps Bhavana. By the time, he invokes the atma of Bhavana and trying to send it inside his daughter's body, Vamsee separates Bhavana and throws away the sorcerer. He accidentally hits a branch of a tree and dies. The body of Jaabili, which was saved by the sorcerer till then, also gets burnt.
