Ramudu (Sunil) is an innocent guy. He runs away from his village when he is just a kid, because of his father's rude attitude. He returns to his village after 20 years. He is sole aim is to marry his maradalu Radha (Arthi Agarwal), whom he loved since his childhood. But Radha loves Raghu (Aakash) and wants to marry him once he secures a job. On the day of his marriage with Radha, Raghu is sent to jail on the charges of a murder. Actually Ramudu’s brother sets up him in this false case. Hence Ramudu marries Radha to save his uncle from the shame but their marriage is not consummated. In the meantime, how the heroine realizes the good heart of Raamudu and how she realizes the true meaning love forms the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Andala Ramudu’s storyline is good. The basic plot is interesting. But the execution by debutante director Lakshminarayana is very old fashioned. Andala Ramudu is remake of Tamil film, Sundara Pursushan. The original writer and hero Livingston wrote the story a decade ago. 10 years later things have changed drastically even in our rural areas but the scenes in Andalaramudu are still languished in that era.
Comedian Sunil turns hero with this film. He carries off the film on his shoulders very brilliantly. But his jokes and entertaining act are too ‘loud’ to digest. This kind of story requires sensitive handling. Here we get hyperactive of acting and narration. Eye-catching cinematography by Sameer Reddy lends the film rich look. All in all, it is an okay film that evokes laughter here and there.
Performances:
Sunil in his role of an innocent rural guy have done good job. Surprisingly, he is best in the emotional and serious scenes than in the ‘comic act’. Arthi Agarwal is cute and good. Unlike the original, here she has not much scope to perform. Aakash is ok. Venumadhav, Brahmanandam and other comedians' comedy track is very clickéd.
S A Rajkumar rehashes his own songs again. Sameer Reddy’s photography and Trivikram – Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are highlights in the film. New director Lakshminarayana’s screenplay and handling is not up to the mark.
Bottom-line:
Andalaramudu works to some extent. The film’s second half is good and the comedy dialogues here and there are funny. On the whole, it is just an okay film.Music is also ok.
Verdict: Average. | |
