Ace Producer & Director Puri Jagannath chose kickboxing as the film's backdrop for his latest film 'Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi'. Though there is 'Tamila Ammayi' in the title. The movie does not focus around her. In fact the Tamil girl has a very small role. The story revolves round the three characters, mother and son in the first half and father and son in the second half.
Coming to story, Chandu (Raviteja) is fond of kick-boxing. He stays with his mother Lakshmi (Jayasudha), who is working as a lecturer. Chandu loves his mother so much. Chandu's father Raghuveer (Prakashraj) leaves both his wife and son to achieve some goal. Lakshmi claims that they separated in a friendly manner and she was not deserted. In a typical situation Chandu meets Moogambika (Ashin) and falls in love with her in first sight. In the due course, Lakshmi suffers a stroke and dies. Before her death, she requests Chandu to go to his father, who was staying in Vizag. In fact, Raghuveer is a great kick-boxing champion, who bagged the championship successively for six times.
Then he starts coaching the students in Vizag. Chandu goes to Raghuveer's place and finds that he was staying with another woman called Shalini (Aiswarya) and they had a daughter also. Though Raghuveer invites him to his house, Shalini and his daughter could not accept Chandu into their family. So Raghuveer keeps him in a room in his institute. He doesn't know that Chandu is also a good kick-boxer.
Raghuveer trains a student for four years and claims that he is his heir in kick-boxing. That student traps Raghuveer's daughter on the pretext of love. Chandu warns his step-sister to avoid him. Later, that student ditches Raghuveer and joins hands with some corporate company who promises to sponsor him for the championship. When Raghuveer pleads that student to return, he gets beaten by goons. Knowing this, Chandu bashes the goons who attacked his father. Meanwhile, Chandu comes to know that his step-sister is pregnant and pleads with her lover not to ditch him.
Raghuveer, who comes to know that his son is a good kick-boxer gives him a vigorous training. In the championship match, the rival tells Chandu that he would marry his step-sister if he loses the match. Giving priority to the sentiment, he accepts to lose the match. But on coming to know that he lied, he defeats him in the match but pleads with him not to ditch his sister. In the climax every one is happy.
Raviteja is in his best in acting skills. Though a new girl Ashin did well. Prakashraj played a routine role. Jayasudha's character is lively. Comedy track by Dharmavarpu Subrahmanyam, Ali, MS Narayana is good. Action scenes by Ram-Lakshman are impressive. Music by Chakri is quite impressive and almost all the songs are good to listen.
